you come to me with shaken doubt,
undecided and uncertain..
but with curious interest
to enter a place you haven't been before.
a sign plainly gives you a warning,
and you search to make the right choice.
you know you can turn back..
but you are still held at the doorway.
you know you can leave and
return to the comforts of "home"
but you would then leave without knowing..
you search for that open mind
you were so taught to always have
but you know yours is a closed one..
you pause for courage and
you know you just cannot turn away..
for you now feel this is the one test
that you so eagerly want to make
without failing like all the others..
but you just cannot move,
feeling frozen with fear of what lies ahead.
and then you move..going to that door
and without any other thought
nor indecision nor doubt..
you vanish into the darkness beyond
and never are ye seen again......
